When using AdMob, what are the chances of actually making money?

For those using AdMob, what are the actual chances of earning revenue? If possible, someone with experience in using AdMob could explain how it works and share their personal experience.

I developed a free app in January, and I'm pleasantly surprised by its performance. It has achieved nearly 51,000 downloads, with 13,000 active installs that continue to grow. Despite the app's limited appeal and unimpressive graphics (prioritizing functionality), I'm pleased with the results.

Currently, I'm working on a "pro-version" in the hope that some active users (based on Active Installs) might consider purchasing it, though I'm not overly reliant on this prospect. Consequently, I'm contemplating adding AdMob to the free version, with the hope of potentially earning a few cents (euros) to support my programming hobby.

Considering the practicality, what can one realistically expect to earn with AdMob? How does the process work? Do I earn a few cents (euros) when a user clicks on an ad? As I mentioned earlier, I would greatly appreciate hearing about your experiences to help me better evaluate if integrating AdMob into my free version is a worthwhile

With 13,000 active users you should be making money from ads. Thats a similar number to two of my apps. Its impossible to say how much because each app has different potential. Simply put, the process is as you say, clicks earn a few cents but again, its impossible to say how much as that amount varies. I would put in ads and just wait and see. You can always remove them later - but you probably wouldnt want to.

As @MikeH says: it's impossible to say how much you will earn. There are several variables (clicks, eCPM, etc.).
I have an app with 1000 users per day with banners, native and interstitial ads that gives me $2/day. This is not the default. There are day that gives less then $1.

Instead a pro version, I would make a modification in the free version to activate premium options and remove the ads using a subscription.

Sorry, I know this is an old thread, but I thought I should respond.

I've made a lot of money from admob over the years. Currently I make around £500 a month from ads showing in my space invaders games I distribute via the Google Play store. the game shows roughly 2 or 3 full screen interstitials for each platy session and my app is downloaded roughly 250 times per day.

The ads that make me the most per click are the rewarded ads.

My figures may be different due to working with games rather than apps. but thought this may help, afaik admob still pays the most out of all ad networks.

what is your app??? Please give a link and maybe post it on the share your creations forum?

Welcome to the club
cheeky! I really need to do some work this year to up my game on this.
Honestly, my day job is depressing me, and making a living from B4X would be great. Especially on things like retro style games, as their fun to write, and can be managed by one developer.

Haha, that's exactly what I'm doing at the moment. I'm monetizing my apps and implementing an e-commerce project with my best friend, only we're producing it ourselves instead of dropshipping.

This is what I did.
I quit my job, that piss me off, several years ago and create my own app development business with my brother.

how is it going?
I have an app development company that has been running for over 10 years, together with my brother. And it is doing well.
For many years I focused more on monetization through Admob, but now I'm focusing more on subscriptions.
It is a market that has something new and many possibilities every day.
I have responsibilities, but I can stop and travel whenever I want, without having to wait for the company's vacation, for example.

I have several programs I have written in B4A and B4J. These 2 programs allowed me to manage a repair business since 2013.
The B4J program is the office desktop application which interfaces with a database (server side) and allows for importing scanned documents (workorders customers sign) and adding / editing repair records, viewing job images etc.
The B4A app allows me to lookup customer repair records remotely, take pictures and automatically attaching them to the workorders and one button sending of all images taken to the server. There are many more features that make the repair job the focus and everything else automatically handled.

Now I'm getting older and repair work is becoming more difficult physically.
I'd like to write software full time but do not know if it would be advantageous.

I have created a mediaplayer in B4A which interfaces with some server side php running from the commandline (i have it start as a system service).
The php interface receives commands from the mobile mediaplayer and serves up all of my media (music, movies, television series and animated series i have collected over the years).
I'd like to make this system available for sale to people that like to collect their own media.
The B4A mobile app utilizes a webserver (server side), database server (server side), database (local to device - sqlite) and a nice looking ui on the device.
You drop your new media files in your folders on the serving machine then go to your app and select those folders for scanning. The app tells PHP to scan and add the new media to a database including web accessible paths to the media. Once that is completed teh mobile device database is updated with those records so that your media is displayed quickly and knows where to request from when you make your selections.
I'm currently adding image support and plot descriptions to each media item. This is truly a collectors dream. People who love to toil away the hours creating their own entertainment compilations without ever listening to another commercial again.

If there is any help out there getting this off the ground it would be greatly appreciated.
I have been a part of the B4A community for quite some time but have been too busy to interact with all of you fine folks aside from the random question here and there. For the most part I have been able to answer my own questions having a background in electronics repair and programming in many other languages.

Thanks so much for any input.
Chris
