Android Question why now must update googleplayservices to continue?

Hello,

I downgrade the manifest from 24 to >>> android:targetSdkVersion="22", and now the firebaseauth need update GooglePlayServices to continue ???

on my phone with a 6.0 work perfectly, but before on VirtualDevice always work perfectly too.
(the android is a VirtualDevice with a Android 4.4.2 with Google Api's Intel Atom (x86))

I don't think that it is related to the targetSdkVersion. Firebase services depend on Google Play Services.
