Your definition of "serious developers" is obviously rather different to mine.

By serious developers I mean actual companies who profit from their apps, for example Gameloft and Epic Games, who are well known in the iPhone AppStore. It seems to me that 50% of the apps for WinMo are used to tweak and hack the OS, and the other 50% are BQFHBIGRO (bad quality freeware home-brewed iPhone game rip-offs).

ok, windows mobile 7 is dead to me.
no way I am going to support that cr@p - if I wanted restrictions and limits, I may as well get apple's junk and infect something with itunes.
so will this product become basic4android ?
- I see no future in windows, I switched to Linux years ago, and don't look back, basic4ppc - needed vmware, but that was the only thing..

Android will be more useful, I may look at Qt - but I'd really like to have this product for Android..

I am also considering moving to Android. It has a real future, unlike Windows Mobile (at the moment)

So, how does it look with "B4WP" now? I plan I will buy one WP7 and I want to know, if I have to learn C#, Silverlight etc., or can stay with B4PPC(WP)...:)

now that's great news ! - keep up the good work :)
Please, if possible - use Qt or something that make it easy for you to compile the IDE for Linux & other platforms than windows too.. - to remove the need for virtual windows.

It seems that WP7 is going to be launched on 11th October...

..and fail like Microsoft Kin, or Vista .. sure they will brag how great success it is at first, but within half a year We'll know.
to me it sounds like WM7 will be just another iphone-like set of limitations, censorship & control.

I don't think Windows Phone 7 is comparable to the Kin, because it was targeting a completely different audience.
The Kin focused more on social connectivity, whereas Windows Phone 7 focuses on actual important things like software development.

Windows Phone 7 will be a closed environment, much like the iPhone.
This is probably to stop the OEM's from customizing the software to the point where it's unrecognizable, which was the case with Windows Mobile.
It will be interesting to see how it fits into the smartphone market, which is already full of mobile operating systems.
