Android Question B4A Bridge no longer works?

I'm using B4A v 5.80.
It works when I connect to my Samsung S3, which is still on B4A bridge v 2.13.
On my tablet, which is using B4A Bridge v 2.14, it wouldn't connect - couldn't find the IP.
I uninstalled B4A Bridge on the device, downloaded a fresh copy from Googleplay and reinstalled, then rebooted, initially with the same results.
Then it finally it connected - so problem seems to be solved, but the mystery remains.

Same symptoms with my cheap Chuwi phablet (I needed it for a test because it has 3G). This one "refuses" to connect some time (I do think the Wifi has bugs on this device due to crap fw/energy saving/whatever). After de-/activating WiFi & it connects fine.
