Background color and text on device different from design

Although I used the designer and provided a blue background with white lettering for most of the screens in my application, a user reported that he was getting a gray background and black text. Did I leave something out of my design or is it his system? My tablet shows just what the emulator did. I don't know which device he was using.

Some devices override the default theme with their own theme. For example a regular button will look slightly different on Samsung devices. This will affect the default appearance of views like buttons and EditText views. Usually you keep the default drawable for these views.
