Bug? Designer files

Create Image view, add file, assign file to it.
Run app
go back to designer, remove the file from file list
See that blank picture is assign to imageview
add different image (add to files - not from designer new file)via code to this imageview
run app in release mode - it will crash looking on old picture

It would be much more efficient if you posted your project or a small one showing the problem.
With the information you give, it is difficult to give a concrete advice.

Are you sure that the file name is correct?
Are sure ...?
We need to guess what you could have done wrong!

I cannot provide project, it is easy to replicate (provided instructions above)
and yes I am sure files are correct
it is remembering old names (none existing any more files)
I had to create new layout in order to overcome it, or to provide other exiting file, and then choose blank file

This is more of a general reply and comment.
If it is easy to create a sample project (as you say it is) to reproduce a problem, then you should do it and upload it. Why be lazy when you need help?
Why should someone who wishes to help you need to do that when it would be so much simpler if he could download the project and look at your problem?
Besides, the problem might be related to the way you are setting up a project, a layout file, the manifest etc which we might not be able to reproduce. If you upload a project which shows the problem, then we both will be working with the same project.

sorry but I just reported on bug, as I wrote I overcome the issue, I just wrote it so @Erel will investigate
if requested by Erel I will create and provide project
