Android Question HANGOUT OUTGOING CALL

i place an automated outgoing phone call and i need to hangout after a variable time, I don´t know how do it.
I have tried to use a timer but while the outgoing call is active it seems the timer like disabled.
Can't anyone help me?

use a timer in a service. Your activity is paused at this time. No events will be raised in the activity while paused.
