for me it seems that some android-devices (or maybe all) are not really powered off when they are shut down - it might be more something like a sleep- or deep-sleep-mode which can be interrupted or will be interrupted by specific situations...
There are apps out which realize a scheduled power on/off and i'm wondering how to do this as i also would like to implement this in my software.
here is a screenshot of such an app which comes preinstalled on a digital-signage-device using a SMDT-Mainboard with android 4.2.2
