How does one set up debugging over USB? I cannot get the bridge any longer

The exact details depend on the specific device.

Start with enabling developer mode: open Settings, go to About phone, tap Software information (if needed), and tap Build number seven times. You can then enable USB debug mode.

I reinstalled the sdkmanager and it works with the bridge. As for USB, my phone has been in developer mode for years, i just dont see a menu item, or physical way to connect via usb.
it was after I update b4a. Now I am having b4x issues. I'll start a new thread

You need "USB Debugging" enabled; for that, you first need "Developer Mode" enabled. If debugging mode is enabled, when you connect your cel to the PC via USB, you "should" get a popup asking for permission to connect.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I just got another phone, and after enabling developer mode on it whenever I minimize an open app on the phone an "APP SWITCH" message pops up for about a second. How can I turn that off?

There is no "usb connect" button as with B4A-Bridge. It happens automatically when you run the app or click on Logs tab Connect button.

The IDE calls: adb devices to get a list of connected devices. You can call it from the command line yourself to see if the device is recognized.

Never mind. I found it. The "Show Key Presses / show visual feedback for physical key presses" toggle switch in the Developer Options was switched on.

Oh, thanks. I suppose it just doesn't like my phone. as it does not work that way. Seeing as how I have the bridge working i am not concerned about that any longer.

My phone just doesn't like B4A at all. It doesn't like B4A Bridge, and it doesn't like B4A's USB connection option either. So my only alternative is to just compile my apps on my PC, upload the apps' .apk files to my cloud, download them to my phone from there, and hope they work.

Every phone and tablet I've ever had to code for, all connect via both USB and also bridge, and that's alot of different brands and models.

Hmm, but saying that. Click Here to download and install adb-setup-1.4.3. Once installed, it should at least fix your USB debugging issue, as long as you enable USB Debugging on your pgone. This should also appy to Supermarine, oops I mean @67biscuits as well.

Uploading apk to the cloud is not a solution for development.
Without USB or B4A-Bridge, you won’t be able to debug your app.
Downloading and installing apk from the cloud is not much different from using the B4A-Bridge.
You’d better open a new thread and describe your issue in detail. I think Erel and members of the community will help you resolve it.

Uploading apk to the cloud is not a solution for development.
Without USB or B4A-Bridge, you won’t be able to debug your app.
Downloading and installing apk from the cloud is not much different from using the B4A-Bridge.
You’d better open a new thread and describe your issue in detail. I think Erel and members of the community will help you resolve it.

I know I can't debug my apps without USB or B4A bridge. Downloading the apk is the only way I can even get the app onto my phone to use it. These apps have already been debugged, but they were written for older versions of Android and I have to edit them to work on my new phone.

I already opened a new thread about the issue and no one was able to help me. Or perhaps I am just helpless? LOL

Maybe this is not the case but sometimes it can happen that the phone appear to be recognized but doesn't work.
In this cases it can help making it to pair again for RSA Key.
Try this:

- unplug device
- go to C:\Users\*yourname*\.android
- delete adbkey e adbkey.pub
- restart pc
- open B4A
- plug in device with USB DEBUG already activated
- click Connect in the lower right part of the IDE.

In this way on the device it should appear again the request to pair with PC using a new RSA Key.

Supermarine thanks you. i will download the adp again. I am still confused as to how it magically connects to the phone. Mine does not. except with the bridge now.
